Graphite gaskets for high-temperature industrial service

Graphite gaskets are manufactured from flexible graphite sheet and are used to seal flanged pipe connections, equipment nozzles and other industrial joints where temperature resistance and conformability are important.

Flexible graphite provides good compressibility and can conform to minor surface irregularities in the mating flange. It is widely used in industrial piping, petrochemical, power generation and process applications.

Graphite gasket material can be supplied in different densities, thicknesses and grades depending on the operating conditions and application requirements.

Rhevon can source graphite sheet and cut gaskets according to required dimensions, thickness, flange facing, material specification and quantity.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Graphite Gasket FAQ

Common questions about graphite gasket materials, configurations, temperature service and flange compatibility.

A graphite gasket is a sealing component manufactured primarily from flexible graphite sheet. It is commonly used for industrial flanged connections where good conformability and resistance to elevated temperatures are required.

Flexible graphite retains useful sealing characteristics across a broad temperature range and can accommodate flange surface irregularities. Actual temperature limits depend on the graphite grade, atmosphere, pressure and specific application.

Flexible graphite gaskets consist primarily of expanded graphite material, while reinforced graphite incorporates a metallic foil, mesh or other reinforcement to improve mechanical stability and handling for selected applications.

Provide the NPS, pressure class, flange facing, gasket dimensions or applicable flange standard, required thickness, graphite grade, service media, operating temperature and quantity. A drawing or existing gasket specification can also be provided for confirmation.

Yes. Graphite gaskets can be included in a mixed piping requirement together with compatible flanges, studs, nuts, washers and other piping components, allowing the complete flange-joint requirement to be sourced together.
