Socket Connection
The pipe is inserted into the internal socket of the flange. The flange and pipe are then joined by a fillet weld around the outside of the connection.
Forged socket weld flanges designed for connection to pipe by inserting the pipe into the flange socket and making a fillet weld around the outside of the joint. Suitable for small-bore piping and applications requiring a compact flanged connection.
A socket weld flange is a forged flange with an internal socket into which the pipe is inserted before welding. The connection is made using a fillet weld around the outside of the pipe-to-flange joint.
Socket weld flanges are commonly used in small-bore piping applications where a compact flanged connection is required. They can be used with compatible pipe, gaskets and bolting according to the applicable piping specification.
The pipe is inserted into the flange socket and positioned with the required fit-up before welding. Proper installation and welding procedures should follow the applicable engineering and project requirements.
Rhevon can source socket weld flanges in different nominal sizes, pressure classes, facing configurations and material grades according to project requirements.
Supplied according to required NPS, pressure class, facing, material and applicable flange standard.
Socket weld flange selection is based on nominal size, pressure class, facing, socket dimensions, material and connected pipe requirements.
The pipe is inserted into the internal socket of the flange. The flange and pipe are then joined by a fillet weld around the outside of the connection.
The flange face provides the gasket seating surface. Facing selection must correspond with the mating flange and gasket specified for the piping system.
Socket weld flange dimensions vary with pressure class. The selected class must correspond with the piping design and pressure-temperature requirements.
Flange material should be selected according to operating temperature, pressure, process media, corrosion requirements and the applicable piping specification.

q is measured axially from the hub end to the socket shoulder; the through-bore below the shoulder must suit the pipe.
Socket weld sizes above NPS 3 are not tabulated in the catalog.
Flange requirements can be reviewed against the applicable material specification, dimensional standard, pressure class, facing, socket dimensions and purchase order requirements before supply.
Common questions about socket weld flange specifications, pipe connection, pressure classes, materials and applications.
A socket weld flange is a forged flange with an internal socket into which the pipe is inserted. The pipe is then joined to the flange by a fillet weld around the outside of the connection.
Socket weld flanges are particularly common in small-bore piping. They can be sourced across the applicable ASME B16.5 size range according to project requirements.
Provide the NPS, pressure class, facing type, material grade, quantity and applicable flange standard. The connected pipe size and wall thickness or schedule should also be provided where required.
A socket weld flange has an internal socket that receives the pipe, while a slip-on flange fits over the outside of the pipe. The two flange types therefore use different pipe-to-flange connection arrangements and should be selected according to the piping design.
Yes. Socket weld flanges can be included in a mixed piping requirement together with compatible gaskets, studs, nuts, washers and other piping components.
Share the NPS, pressure class, facing, material, quantity and applicable specification. Include the connected pipe schedule where required. Mixed piping component requirements are also welcome.
